Scottish Screen have launched a new £300,000 Digital Projection Equipment Fund to help fit-out cinemas, multi-art spaces and other venues in rural and remote areas of Scotland with equipment to enable them to project films digitally.

Up to 6 awards of £15,000 each are available for the financial year 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009

The Creative Capital | Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program announces its third round of grants as part of the Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Initiative.

The Scottish Arts Council has joined forces with Scottish Screen to support Alt-w, a fund for practitioners based in Scotland to make and develop new web-based or digital artworks, devices and creative applications.

Alt-w is managed by New Media Scotland and was first initiated by Scottish Screen in 2000 and it has supported over sixty innovative projects since inception. This is the first year that the Scottish Arts Council has supported the programme, providing additional funds and reflecting the growing importance of the internet and digital software as a medium for the arts, for 2008 the fund will focus on projects which dynamically engage audiences beyond the screen.

The European Commission has announced the latest call for proposals under its Culture programme 2007-2013. The aim of the programme is to support projects that enhance the cultural area shared by Europeans with a view to encouraging the emergence of European citizenship. The Yapp Charitable Trust is an independent grant making trust that aims to make grants totalling £300,000 to about 100 small charities each year.

Aberdeenshire Council seeks an experienced artist/designer or company to design the following to be included in the refurbishment of Oldmeldrum Town Centre that will enhance and improve the town centre:

• Appropriate railings in front of the centre shops which reflect the town. These would be designed and fabricated by the artist/designer.
• Paving areas as shown on the plan
• To recommend and assist with the design of environmental elements of the refurbishment of the town centre.

At the 'Varieties of Cultural History' conference, at the University of Aberdeen, 5-8 July 2007, a meeting, chaired by Crosbie Smith of the University of Kent, was held on 8 July to consider the establishment of a Cultural History Society. It was proposed by Peter Burke of Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and generally agreed, that 'International' should be included in the title of the Society. In order to launch such a Society, the meeting set up a small committee, to prepare a draft constitution, to arrange a founding conference, to develop the membership, and to explore the establishment of a Journal of Cultural History and occasional publications series. For these purposes an email list, website, and newsletter should be started. The Provisional Committee that was set up at the general meeting met immediately afterwards. It has now co-opted additional members so as to increase the number of countries represented.

The Scottish Centre for Regeneration (SCR) helps build skills and expertise and shares knowledge among those working in community regeneration.

The Künstlerhäuser Worpswede are one of the largest residencies in the Federal Republic of
Germany.

The Künstlerhäuser Worpswede are supported by the Barkenhoff Stiftung, Worpswede, and the
private initiative Atelierhaus e. V., which collectively make the studios available. Besides the regular
presentation of works produced in the studios both within and outside Worpswede, there are also, on
a discursive level, artists' discussions, workshops and symposia on artists' support, which take place
at the Barkenhoff.

The grant body is also supported by the state of Lower Saxony through the award of a monthly grant
of 1.400 Euro.

There is no restriction concerning age or nationality.

Selection is made by a specialised jury in the fine arts and sound art respectively.
Applications for the 2009 residencies in the fields of fine arts and sound art for a duration of up to 6
months are requested as of now. The deadline is July 10 2008 (date of postmark).

early stage of professional life. Having made the commitment to training as an artist, the period

The National Association for Literature Development (NALD) has received further funding from the Scottish Arts Council to institute a Co-ordinator post that will further extend and develop its activities in Scotland. This project will run from July/August 2008 to July 2009.

Potential issues to explore in tackling the theme of feminism’s global/local future include: the role of feminism in the 21st century; feminism and the contemporary analyses of international politics; the impact of the critical studies of race, postcolonial studies, masculinity studies and queer theory on the feminist study of gender and sex in global politics; how the local and global intertwine, and what new forms of violence have emerged in the 21st century.

·        The conference will include film viewings and art/photographic exhibitions and an associated workshop.

·        It is also anticipated that social events will include a whiskey tasting evening and a ceilidh.

Schools within the UK that wish to improve their play spaces have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Playground Partnerships Initiative 2008. A total of £500,000 is available to fund specific improvements and developments to their play environments. Schools can apply for awards of £1,000, £2,000, £5,000 or £10,000.

 The Juliet Gomperts Trust is a small charity which gives financial support to artists. The Trust will support all forms of contemporary fine art practice through project funding and residencies. The Trust fund a cross section of artists: recent graduates, emerging artists and established artists. It awards between six to eight thousand pounds per year. It judges applicants on artistic merit: vision, imagination and skill.

National Youth Organisations in Scotland have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to £50,000 through a new fund set up by the Scottish Government....

The Aesthetica Annual Creative Works Competition will champion new talent in the genres of visual arts, photography, poetry and fiction.

In the last month Peacock's have received two pieces of wonderful news.

First came the annoucement that the Scottish Government have approved the plans for Aberdeen's new centre for the contemporary arts.

Then, just last week the Scottish Arts Council announced they will be providing £4 million of capital funding for the centre. It's the largest single grant being awarded in Scotland and we are delighted!

The Elephant Trust was created in 1975 by Roland Penrose and Lee Miller with a view to develop and improve the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the fine arts in the United Kingdom. Given the Trust’s modest resources, grants have usually been limited to £2,000 but larger grants may be considered. No grants are available for educational or other study purposes.

Community Cash Awards are grants of up to £5,000 to help young people set up a project that will benefit their community. You just have to come up with an idea for a project that will improve life in a local community in the UK. Anyone who is aged 14 to 16 and is in school but struggling, or aged 16 to 25 and unemployed or working less than 16 hours a week are eligible to apply.

Projects must:
- be run and managed by people between the ages of 14 and 25;
- clearly benefit the local community;
- benefit the people running the project;
- be a new or developing project.

The following are not eligible:
- formal groups or organisations;
- expeditions or overseas travel;
- fundraising activities for charity;
- trips and outings, unless they have educational value.

Funding of up to £1,000 is available for 14 to16 year olds and up to £5,000 is available for those aged 16 to 25.

The Centre for Social Justice Awards 2008 is looking for small grass roots charities, voluntary groups and community groups who are tackling poverty in your local area. If you are people focused, tackling causes as well as symptoms, driven by conviction and motivated by compassion then it wants to hear from you.

There is no application form. Simply describe in 500 words or less how your organisation makes an exceptional contribution to tackling poverty.

Charities with a turnover below £2 million are invited to apply to have a short, awareness-raising film made at a fraction of the usual cost. This is the fourth series of Volunteer Films launched by Media Trust, and as well as a broadcast quality film, with guaranteed airtime on Community Channel, a DVD and internet version is supplied, for a total cost of £1,000. Applications have to be in by 31 March.

We are seeking 50 paintings and/or drawings to be shown as part of a mini-exhibition within the Dark Matter  Group show taking place at Co-Prosperity Sphere.. The subject of the work is up to you.
